Hewelsfield and Brockweir Parish Council

Minutes of the Meeting held on 3rd August 2010 in the ‘The Loft’, The Village Shop, Brockweir

Present: Cllr. Mr. Wilson (Chairman), Cllr. Mr. Summers, Cllr. Mr. Fox, Cllr. Mr. Skinner, Cllr. Mr. Stott and the Parish Clerk.

1607. Apologies for Absence
Cllr. Mrs. Mayo and Cllr. Mrs. Mackey sent their apologies.

1609.Matters arising from the minutes of the Meeting held on the 6th July 2010

1609.1 Request for representative of Parish Council on Brockweir & Hewelsfield Playarea Committee
Cllr. Mr. Skinner reported that along with Cllr. Mrs. Mackey he had met up with Mrs. Sarah Mclellan representing Brockweir and Hewelsfield Playarea Committee to discuss their request. Unfortunately changes to central government have put the £46,000 promised by local government in jeopardy although the committee were looking at the legal situation. Although the group has some other donations the loss of the government funding will have a significant impact on the project and the members of the committee have personal liability towards orders already placed. AONB have offered £6,000 but they want a promise of commitment from the Parish Council as they want to guarantee the ongoing maintenance of the playarea. Although at the time of their meeting Mrs. Mclellan had not received a copy of the lease from the Mackenzie Hall Committee it is important that the Parish Council recognises it’s liability towards the maintenance of the site along with the landowner, i.e. Mackenzie Hall. It was agreed that the Parish Clerk should write to AONB confirming that the Parish Council will provide a non-voting representative on the Brockweir & Hewelsfield Playarea Committee and that it is understood that along with the land owner i.e. Mackenzie Hall, the Parish Council has an obligation to our Parishioners for the continued success of this project and therefore we will endeavour to work with the Play Area Committee and the Mackenzie Hall Committee to ensure the ongoing maintenance of the site.

1610.1P0095/10/DISCON – Hopewell Barn, Bailey Lane, Hewelsfield – discharge of condition of planning permission P0646/08/COU allowed on appeal, (02) samples of materials to be used, (03) boundary treatments
